FAQ's
Q: If Tribo-Tone™ slide bars are so slick, how can you hold onto them?
A: They are very easy to grip & hold. The material’s chosen for our bars don’t react to your fingers like they do your metal guitar strings.
Q: Many Tribo-Tone™ bars are the same size but come in different weights. Is the weight distributed evenly throughout each slide?
A: Absolutely! Regardless of the weight you choose (A, B, or C) all weight is
distributed evenly throughout the length of the bar.
Q: Do you use the same kind of material for your black, white, Indian, and color slide bars?
A: There are 2 species, 16 families, and hundreds of formulas of engineering plastics. Our black and white slides are built from one formula; and our Indian and color slides from another formula. These materials have near identical molecular and mechanical properties. We have built, played, and experimented with many brands, families, formulas, and even a few space age ‘non-plastics.' We have chosen the absolute best for Tribo-Tone™.
Q: You recommend a break in period for your slides and say they will improve with age. Why is this? It sounds fantastic right out of the case!
A1: The break in period: We use several oxides and rouges in our finishing process then buff this out with a hard wax like material. This polish, along with any remnants from the buffing compounds, should be worn off to achieve ultimate performance.
A2: Improving with age: Your new slide will develop an outer surface patina over a period of time (through play). This is a good thing!!! Your bar is not wearing out. It is made from Tribometric materials that are designed to perform this way. Tribo-Tone™ bars should never need to be cleaned or polished. If you want to clean or polish your bar... Armor-All® (original) protectant is highly recommended and available just about anywhere in the world. It works great.
Q: Will you be building: Pedal steel sizes, Stevens steels, or bottleneck slides in the near future? When can I get one?
A: 7/8 diameter bars are now available (1-8-08). We have plans for making bottleneck slides in the near future. We would like to design and build a Stevens type rail-road shape steel down the road. Right now we are concentrating on building the worlds best tone-bars and getting the word out about our designs. If you like our stuff, please help us spread the word.
